LIST: Weekly Humorist’s Top 10 List Of The Top 10 ‘Top 10 Lists’ Of The 2010’s
Over the past 10 years, we all read thousands of phenomenal Top 10 listicles. Here now is the definitive list of Weekly Humorist’s top 10 picks for the Top 10 ‘Top 10 lists’ of the 2010’s. Please enjoy!
10. “The 10 Best TV Shows of the 2010s” (Time)
9. “The 10 Best Music Videos Of The Decade, Ranked” (Screen Rant)
Look out, folks! In spot number nine, it’s everyone’s favorite perennial underdog, “The 10 Best Music Videos Of The Decade, Ranked.” And, as opposed to some Top 10 lists out there, this Top 10 list actually ranks its entries, which means that now we know how things should be ordered. You heard me… They go in order, folks! And if you’re trying to make a list of the top ten things that happened in the 2010’s, that’s definitely something that you’re going to want to do!
8. “Best Movies of the 2010s: Top 10 Films of the Decade” (Esquire)
7. “Here Are EW’s Top 10 Fiction Books of the Decade” (Entertainment Weekly)
Get ready, folks! It’s time for the listicle that we all love to hate… because Entertainment Weekly’s “Here Are EW’s Top 10 Fiction Books of the Decade,” is the undeniable bad boy of the list-world! Not only does this tough-as-nails Top 10 list feature books, which, let’s be honest, are way less popular than anything else on this list. But, even more importantly, it actually goes in reverse order, starting at #1 and going backwards up to #10. Way to subvert the form, EW!!! We love you guys!
6. “Ranking NBA’s Top 10 Shooting Guards of the 2010s” (NBA.com)
Coming in at spot number six, here’s a “baller” Top 10 list for all the sports fans out there: a Top 10 list filled with obscure, ultra-specific statistics about NBA shooting guards! Um, yes please! Want to read about Manu Ginobili’s stellar 2013 season with the San Antonio spurs? How about Jimmy Butler’s untouchable basketball game? Hell, do you even know what a shooting guard does? Well, if you don’t, then don’t bother reading this list, sports-hater… because this is the most sports-specific article on this list by a long shot, baby!
5. “So Close, and Never on Top: The 10 Most Memorable Celtics Games of the 2010s” (The Athletic)
Whoops, we spoke too soon. This list is waaaaay more sports-specific! Featuring all your favorite niche, esoteric facts about, specifically, the Boston Celtics during the years 2010-2019, this Top 10 list truly lists 10 things that happened in the past ten years! Now, regrettably, this article is hidden behind a pesky little paywall–so if you want to read this Top 10 listicle, then you’re gonna have to pony up the big bucks. But for an article of this sheer readability, I’d gladly pay for 1,000 paywalls… It’s just that dang good!
4. “Top 10 Decade Defining Music Videos of the 2010s So Far (2015)” (WatchMojo.com)
Man, oh man, now was this a Top 10 listicicle or what, folks? You see, while most of the publications on this list waited until the end of 2019 to publish their ‘End-Of-The-Decade’ lists… not WatchMojo! Nope, they made this ‘Best Of’ list all the way back in 2015. Now that’s what we call predicting the future! And, if you liked this listicle, make sure to check out WatchMojo’s other, equally-premature lists like Top 10 Action Movies of the 2010s So Far” (published in 2015) and their “Top 10 Decade Defining TV Shows: 2010s” (published in Autumn of 2014, six years before the end of the decade).
3. “Weekly Humorist’s Top 10 List Of The Top 10 ‘Top 10 Lists’ Of The 2010’s” (Weekly Humorist)
Coming in at number three is, you guessed it… this list. That’s right, the one you’re currently reading! Yup, this list is objectively the third-best Top 10 list of the 2010’s! We did it, Weekly Humorist! We came in third!!! We got the bronze!!! WE GOT THE BRONZE!!! WOOOOOOOOOH!!!
2. “The 10 Most Influential Films of the Decade (and 20 Other Favorites)” (The New York Times)
Barely edging us out to win the coveted number two spot is The New York Times’s inimitable “Top 10 Most Influential Flims” listicle. And, oh boy, is this yet-another listicle! Not only does this stellar, one-of-a-kind list list 10 different things, but it also lists another, additional 20 things… yup, it’s a regular 30-for-the-price-of-10 bargain, folks! And, with deals like that, you’d be a downright fool not to read this epic, kick-butt, #WIN of a listicle! Yas queen!!!
1. “10 Insane TV Episodes From the 2010s We’ll Be Talking About Forever” (Thrillist)
Hell yes! It’s finally (finally) time for numero uno, the crème de la crème, the Tom Brady of the listicle world! It’s “10 Insane TV Episodes From the 2010s We’ll Be Talking About Forever.” And, sure, while some of the haters out there might describe this list’s headline as “sensationalist” or “hyperbolic” or “bald-faced yellow journalism on par with what we did back in the Spanish-American War”… these critiques are way off base! So congrats Thrillist, you did it! You really were listed as the number one spot on this Top 10 list of the top 10 ‘Top 10 lists’ from the 2010s, and if you ask us, we wouldn’t have it any other way!!!
Well, that’s it. That’s all of them. We did it! See you in 2029 when I inevitably write “Weekly Humorist’s Top 20 List Of The Top 20 ‘Top 20 Lists’ Of The 2020’s.” So long, 2010s… Of all the decades that have ever existed, you were one of them!
